It certainly has been a busy couple of months here at Crafted Studio with new architecture, design and furniture projects filling up every spare moment, day and night.
Our entry into this years NZ house & garden interior of the year awards, the Crafted Studio HQ kitchen/ office space, was selected as one of four finalists in the best kitchen category. After two photo shoots and a couple of phone interviews we are now waiting in anticipation for the November edition of the magazine to be published, so we can see how it all looks in print. The winners will be announced at an awards night on the 16th of October.
We have several new projects underway including a new café in Onehunga in collaboration with interior design practice Material Creative. Our role involved documenting the project for resource and building consents and thankfully the building consent came through this week just in time for construction to commence at the start of October.
Another interesting project is the design and documentation of a small house for a retired couple that will one day be relocated and used as a family bach. The small footprint and low budget calls for a creative use of space in order to maximise the liveability of the dwelling. Future proofing is also an important aspect of the design as consideration is given to its future alternative use.
At long last my business cards are underway and I was able to watch the first press as it was done this week. Hannah from Future Nature took my basic concept and refined it into a polished logo, stamp and business card package. The square cards are made from recycled box board and are printed in white ink on one side with the logo embossed on the other... if you ask nicely I might let you have one.
In other exciting news I have joined the team at ARCO to help bring their vision of a socially and environmentally conscious furniture brand to life. I will be working with Ana and Ruby to develop our social enterprise business model, design our first product range and establish the training scheme that will be the backbone of the business... watch this space.
